The preceding voter registration statistics provide some interesting information:
1. Total voter registration has increased 15.4% since 2002.
2. Democrat registrations have increased 19.0% since 2002.
3. The absolute number of Republican registrations remains roughly unchanged, it is within
0.5% of 2002, but the percentage of people registered as Republicans has decreased 6.l%.
4. Declined to State registrations have increased 54.4% since 2002. This group splits roughly
the same as the main party groupings. Though the plurality of individuals in this group vote
Republican, individuals in the group vote their pocketbooks, their hearts, and their
immediate
needs. They will support and vote for Democrats and causes championed by Democrats, if
they determine it is in their best interest.
The keys to the 2010 election will be:
1. Register more currently registered voters as Democrats.
2. Register those currently not registered as Democrats.
3. Convince Democrats, Republicans, and Declined to State to vote for Democratic candidates.
